HICES Debating Round 4 at Macarthur Anglican School

Do we need a referendum to decide whether we change the date of Australia Day? Should the Order of Australia be awarded for paid work? At what point should social media companies be held responsible to remove hate speech from their platforms? These are some of the topics debated at last night’s HICES Debating event, held at Macarthur Anglican School.

It was a chilly yet successful evening, with all eight teams from Years 7 to 12 winning their respective debates. We now look to the Finals Series, where a number of our teams will compete against schools across all NSW regions. All students are commended on their eloquence, effective collaboration in preparing their cases and for the way they conducted themselves throughout the event.

Stage Band and A Capella Choir at Relay for Life

Inaburra's Stage Band and Senior A Capella Choir are involved again in this year's Sutherland Shire Relay For Life at Cronulla's Don Lucas Reserve on May 4. Performances will be from 5pm, as part of the Candlelight Ceremony. This is always a great event in support of a worthy cause - plus a wonderful opportunity to hear our talented musicians live in concert.

Senior School Mission Week

In Mission Week at the end of Term 1, students were challenged in their thinking by the chaplaincy team but are also being provided with some fun entertainment and ice cream incentives along the way. The senior assembly guest speakers were Inaburra alumnus Greg Attwells and The Blacklist Studio partner Jaynie Johnson who both shared insights into their personal faith journeys. This was followed by a lunch time paper plane competition, giant inflatables time challenge and a very popular Mr Whippy van!

Prize for Feline Felting!

Congratulations to Alexis in Year 11, who was awarded a third place ribbon in this year’s Royal Easter Show - Sydney– Open Age Needle Felting section. She made this life-size cat in Textiles last year. How wonderful it is for her to receive such recognition.
