On Tuesday 18 October 2016, Inaburra’s Senior Debating Team met at the Sutherland Shire Council Chambers to compete in the Grand Final of the Sutherland Shire Debating Competition. The team was given one hour to prepare the affirmative case for the topic, ‘Australia is a tolerant society’. All speakers presented themselves with confidence, integrity and critiqued pivotal issues pertaining to the status of our society, our emerging identity and the notion of ‘tolerance’. Inaburra were victorious and established and defended a central argument and relevant contextual examples that stood strong by the end of the debate. Congratulations to Lachlan Kay, Sarah Stivaktas, Laurence Neuhaus and Elizabeth Bourikov on their successes throughout the debating season and as Grand Final Winners.
